Quotes about snail, page 9

Animals' Houses

Of animals' houses
Two sorts are found -
Those which are square ones
And those which are round.

Square is a hen-house,
A kennel, a sty:
Cows have square houses
And so have I.

A snail's shell is curly,
A bird's nest round;
Rabbits have twisty burrows
Underground.

But the fish in the bowl
And the fish at sea -
Their houses are round
As a house can be.

Grotesque

My
Man
Says
I weigh about four ounces,
Says I must have hollow legs.
And then say I,
'Yes,
I've hollow legs and a hollow soul and body.
There is nothing left of me.
You've burnt me dry.
You
Have
Run
Through all my veins in fever,
Through my soul in fever for
An endless time.
Why,
This small body is like an empty snail shell,
All the living soul of it
Burnt out in lime.'

Morning

early morning the house is as silent
as a feather falling
on the floor

the cat wakes up and checks
what it is

it is like him, silent as a cat
silent as his master
not wanting to wake up

no one boils the water
to make a smell of coffee in the air
time drags like a snail
convoluted like some thoughts
like Hamlet's
to be or
not to be

it happens most of the time

Poe Was Right...

perhaps Poe was right....
the heart that clamors in these walls,
defies death with every verse.
we are more than death,
and less than the snail's journey.
it be not the lie clothed in many words,
but the scar revealed on the naked breast!
and genius itself some small miracle,
like walking on water,
or painting the moon.
the beauty lies in that which
we cannot perfect....
in that which already 'is'!

Time

for the one who loves
time travel so slowly like a snail
like the tortoise making love
under the sea

for the one who is angry
or the one who has so much hate
time travels so fast
like an arrow shot in the air
or the bullet hitting its target

but for me who writes
time freezes
i am frozen i feel like turning into a stone
a sculpture
a glass
i feel that i am not moving
stuck
like a chewing gum on the wall

On The Cliffs Of Eternity...

i am a man,
but i was once a leaf.
i was once a river,
once a mountain,
once a cloud.
i have been wolf,
turtle, hawk, and snail...
i have been a storm, i have been the wind.

do you dare love me?
i have waited for hundreds of years!
the fire inside of me,
consumes and feeds!

i dont know your name,
but i know the part too deep,
and too wild and untamed
to be spoken as name...

i wait on the cliffs of eternity!

Snail Crossing.... (Part Fourteen)

and so we are but this...
the match struck ablaze,
for a moment and gone...
the flower that blooms for a day.
the rain dropp dissolving into the earth,
the small stone washed away,
when the river surges.
the memory of dawn
forgotten in the night...
the lonesome farewell of the snail
crossing just before light...
leaving only a small wet trail
as evidence of passing! , , ,
and the shout of joy,
that sounds like silence!

Let Go, And Dance!

the burnt branch,
has a name and a prayer.
the small child understands
the language of sparrows.
tiny snowflakes shout,
even the snail leaves a trace.
the rough touch of the cat's tongue,
speaks of history and hope.

yet we go mourning,
unable to see or to hear.
we rinse our mouths,
to get rid of the taste.
we crucify flowers,
in the name of beauty.
but the blood on our hands,
has the scent of our souls!

let go, and dance!

The New Teacher

he prides himself about
this job
where he is all wise
and his students listen
he drives the points
like he's the hammer to
his nails

somehow the old teacher
listens

it is not supposed to
be

he picks a snail
a house actually where the hermit
crab lives

he whistles and the crab comes
out

I Have Crossed the Mile

I have crossed the mile
With patience and perseverance
I have crossed the mile
pushing beyond my limits
hoping against hope.

I have crossed the mile
Like a crawling snail on a parched land,
I have counted every step
and every second to draw me closer
to the end of the line.

I have crossed the mile
Like a sportsman on a race,
I have run without stopping
gasping for my last breath
yet smiling to discover
that I have crossed the mile.
