Quotes about tuning, page 9

John Wesley

Hymn IX: Sinners, Obey the Gospel-Word!

Sinners, obey the gospel-word!
Haste to the supper of my Lord!
Be wise to know your gracious day;
All things are ready, come away!

Ready the Father is to own
And kiss his late-returning son;
Ready your loving Saviour stands,
And spreads for you his bleeding hands.

Ready the Spirit of his love
Just now the stony to remove,
To apply, and witness with the blood,
And wash and seal the sons of God.

Ready for you the angels wait,
To triumph in your blest estate;
Tuning their harps, they long to praise
The wonders of redeeming grace.

The Snow At Fredericksburg

Drift over the sunrise land,
Oh, wonderful, wonderful snow!
Oh! pure as the breast of a virgin saint,
Drift tenderly, soft and slow.
Over the slopes of the sunrise land,
And into the haunted dells
Of the forest of pine, where the roving winds
Are tuning their memory bells.

Into the forests of sighing pines,
And over those yellow slopes,
That show not the work of the cleaving plow,
But cover so many hopes;
They are many indeed, and straightly made,
Not shapen with loving care;
By the souls let out and the broken blades,
May never be counted there!

Fall over those lonely hero graves,
Oh, delicate-dropping snow,

A Prologue

While to the clarion blown by Marlowe's breath
Tall Tragedy tramped by in hues of death,
And Shakespeare yet was tuning string by string,
With English hawthorn crowned, in that glad spring
When bright clouds melted in a sky serene,
Romance moved lightly to the pipe of Greene.
As fresh as buds half-open, pure as dew,
Two damsels came in forefront of her crew,
One native to the hedgerows and the meads,
The keeper's lass, in simple country weeds,
Her firm white arms, as delicate as silk,
Below her smock-sleeve shining wet with milk;
No marvel the young noble learnt to woo
A maid so merry and frank and homely true.
The other with sad mien, though yet a bride,
Clad in man's raiment softly stole aside
And grieved that he who should have been her stay
Would privily have done her life away,
For still his crime with bloodshot eyeballs grim
And dripping fangs turned back and hunted him.

Power of Determination

Fortitude of mind can do any miracle
as a testimony, here’s an example.
A lady I know who’s full of willpower
proving her wonderfully a match for the hour.
Married a person, a man of numerous worth,
as a housewife in her family, she too gave childbirth.
Notwithstanding this fact, she had some hidden hopes,
to bloom as an erudite, waiting for the scopes.

She felt a need within for developing sense
to make her life to grow with modern relevance;
power of knowledge that she wanted to achieve,
to educate herself, more and more to perceive.
A decade of efforts brought her graduation
with her own daughter taking examination,
with this enviable quality of her mind
she gathered her degrees with the time she could find.

Higher education paved her path to the top,
In her carrier, as a professor she stopped.

Singer/Songwriter (Leddra Chapman)

(This poem was inspired by the singer/songwriter, Leddra Chapman.)

This singer songwriter, of only nineteen years of age,
Is met by warm applause, as she takes to the stage.
She acknowledges her fans and bids them a cheery ‘hello.’
This evening, she’s accompanied by keyboard and cello.

As she stands on stage, tuning her guitar,
She still can’t believe that she has come this far.
She soon launches into her first song.
Her fans join in and joyously sing along.

With her audience, she happily interacts.
Fans, into every venue, she manages to pack.
She is able to light up an entire room,
When, all around us is doom and gloom.

Her outfit gives her a slightly hippie appearance,
Which, with her long blonde hair, gives her endearance.
Her manner is easy and light.

Before marriage

What a girl might be thinking before her marriage?
Lot many happy dreams that has come up with age
A beautiful journey to be taken along with companion
A bond of never ending dreams and nice union!

So many friends come forward to suggest
What factors to be remembered as best?
What to forget outright and what to digest?
Well orchestrated rehearsal for coming test

All anxieties in mind for ship to anchor at the port
Clear worries with all illusions to garner the support
The sky may naturally clear off with clouds disappearance
When meeting will be taking with full trust and faith at once

Life has been put to me as two wheels of cart
I may prove its test and find charm at the start
Love to accommodate and live with whatever he has
Try to find out some good smile that must fit on face?

It Appealed....

It appealed me less when she cried
It even puzzled me when she lied
It even terrified me when she tried
'Love, happy valentine day' gently said

It is always nice to feel good about
Friends, relatives, near ones and who are out
Little urges arise in the remote centre of heart
Bring us together in times to come as living art

It is not mere exchange of pleasantries
In our life there may be several entries
But when some one enters all of sudden
It becomes unique in chance as very golden

You need some one to talk and move with
Confide in person and free the tongue from teeth
Prison gate opens up with lot more thoughts to release
What a situation to find with and live at ease!

What Better Gift

Best wishes.
Hoping you well with enough joy,
To spread for each day you are able!

It should not be only on holidays,
We come together
Full of cheer and anticipation...
To celebrate and make amends!
These connected days that tie into seasons,
Should overflow from stored up hope and love!
Had I thought of a gift?
To exchange in merriment?
Have I selected slots of limited time
Thinking of ways to stretch pennies, nickles
And dimes?
There's not a month that goes by
That I find doing that has become tradition!

I wonder if God wants me to shop at Saks'?
Or Macy's, Sears or stores that sell back packs!

As I Sit Here and Rot

I cannot stop these cravings
I just really want to shoot it
Oh, yes, I know the truth
Oh yes I fu*king blew it

I'm not sure where to turn
Or how to possbily hide it
I'm completely addicted now
And, I need not deny it

Everything has paused
It's like life has suddenly stopped
And I'm stuck craving this sh*t
As I sit here and rot

I cannot shake these feelings
Of being out of control
I cannot seem to retain
All that the Devil stole

Preparatory Meditations - First Series: 32

(I. Corinthians 3:22. Whether Paul or Apollos, or Cephas)

Thy grace, dear Lord, 's my golden wrack, I find,
Screwing my fancy into ragged rhymes,
Tuning Thy praises in my feeble mind
Until I come to strike them on my chimes.
Were I an angel bright, and borrow could
King David's harp, I would them play on gold.

But plunged I am, my mind is puzzled,
When I would spin my fancy thus unspun,
In finest twine of praise I'm muzzled,
My tazzled thoughts twirled into snick-snarls run.
Thy grace, my Lord, is such a glorious thing,
It doth confound me when I would it sing.

Eternal love an object mean did smite,
Which by the prince of darkness was beguiled,
That from this love it ran and swelled with spite,
And in the way with filth was all defiled,
