Quotes about haul

South Australia

In South Australia I was born
Heave away, Haul away
In South Australia 'round Cape Horn
We're bound for South Australia
Haul away your rolling king
Heave away, Haul away
Haul away oh hear me sing
We're bound for South Australia
As I walked out one morning fair
Heave away, Haul away
'Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair
We're bound for South Australia
There's just one thing that's on my mind
Heave away, Haul away
That's leaving Nancy Blair behind
We're bound for South Australia
And as we wallop round Cape Horn
Heave away, Haul away
You'll wish to God you've never been born
We're bound for South Australia

Half A World Away

This could be the saddest dusk
Ive ever seen
Turn to a miracle
High alive
My mind is racing
As it always will
My hand is tired my heart aches
Im half a world away here
My head sworn
To go it alone
And hold it along
Haul it along
And hold it
Go it alone
Hold it along and hold, hold.
This lonely deep sit hollow
Im half a world
Half the world away
My shoes are gone
My life spent

Fifteen Gears

Fifteen gears
By: jimmy buffett
1975
Yes and I cant remember when I slept last
I do believe Im driving on the brink
If I get off this mighty long haul
Gonna sit right down and buy myself a drink
Yes and I cant remember when I slept last
I do believe Im driving on the brink
If I get off this mighty long haul
Gonna sit right down and buy myself a drink
Yes and I cant remember when I slept last
I do believe Im driving on the brink
If I get off this mighty long haul
Im gonna sit right down and buy myself a drink
Yes and I cant remember when I slept last
I do believe Im driving on the brink
If I get off this mighty long haul
Im gonna sit right down and buy myself a drink

Comfortable Place On The Couch

Comfortable suburban home
Too afraid to go out on your own
Comfortable place on the couch
Natures a stranger keep it out
Haul away
So you got coastline for fence
It could be your first line of defence
Youll never be ready for this
Ignorance is bliss havent you heard
Haul away
Give me your sermon on the mount
Give me your final account
Your house is so blissfully calm
Ill bury you down at the farm
Haul away
They say the truth is what you see
I know the truth is what you feel

The Aeneid of Virgil: Book 2

ALL were attentive to the godlike man,
When from his lofty couch he thus began:
“Great queen, what you command me to relate
Renews the sad remembrance of our fate:
An empire from its old foundations rent, 5
And ev’ry woe the Trojans underwent;
A peopled city made a desart place;
All that I saw, and part of which I was:
Not ev’n the hardest of our foes could hear,
Nor stern Ulysses tell without a tear. 10
And now the latter watch of wasting night,
And setting stars, to kindly rest invite;
But, since you take such int’rest in our woe,
And Troy’s disastrous end desire to know,
I will restrain my tears, and briefly tell 15
What in our last and fatal night befell.
“By destiny compell’d, and in despair,
The Greeks grew weary of the tedious war,
And by Minerva’s aid a fabric rear’d,
Which like a steed of monstrous height appear’d: 20

The Lone Eye

Be steady
Haul the load
Heavier than the word
Till destiny greets you.

Don’t blink
For the load’s sake
Lest it strays away
Without a lone eye’s light.

Left to haul the load
All energetic eyes closed
Giving you the bitter chance?
Of hauling the blind lot
Till destiny greets you
Don’t blink.

Dedication: To all my kindred

Wafer

The Present: a nano-thin wafer wall
on which we wanderers waiver, stall
for time - waifs small on ant-heap tall -
soon turned to ashes spurned, shred shawl
on which we pile from fast Past’s dust,
rich dream state which maintains its thrall
to spell Man’s time-plan wherewithal -
framework contextual all-in-all.

This transient recorded scrawl
upon the wall of fate thus must
seem progam which can disinstall
itself when system crashes - fall
whose ripples often waterfall
from chaos and beginnings small -
an ore shawl for next cycle’s rust –
from an apparent free-for-all,
create conditions for long haul,
new ball-game to begin it all
again and open options call.

Thank You For The Drink

As you percolated through the sieves
With an impassive watchfulness -
A sentry intoxicated by distress
For a comrade's fluttering sense
I waved my wrist noncommittally
And dragged my panacea wistfully
Dispensing your endeavors futilely
For you, and the rest of my everybody
Is my artillery, my only affinity left
And I will not tarnish you with my disease
I shall keep you unstained and purged
From my awry and foible soliloquy

So fret not for my erratic smiles
For I will soon succumb to your lulls
And wrought not your fist to rubble
Staring daggers at my tormenters
Because my demons are selfishly mine
And my lugubrious suppurations
Will soon decay like everything

Hyperbion

Hyperbion was among the chosen few
Of Phoebus; and men honored him awhile,
Honoring in him the God. But others sang
As loudly; and the boys as loudly cheer'd.
Hyperbion (more than bard should be) was wroth,
And thus he spake to Phoebus: 'Hearest thou,
O Phoebus! the rude rabble from the field,
Who swear that they have known thee ever since
Thou feddest for Admetos his white bull?'
'I hear them,' said the God. 'Seize thou the first
And haul him up above the heads of men,
And thou shalt hear them shout for thee as pleas'd.'
Headstrong and proud Hyperbion was: the crown
Of laurel on it badly cool'd his brow:
So, when he heard them singing at his gate,
While some with flints cut there the rival's name,
Rushing he seiz'd the songster at their head:
The songster kickt and struggled hard; in vain.
Hyperbion claspt him round with arm robust,
And with the left a hempen rope uncoil'd,
