Quotes about mention

Did She Mention My Name

Its so nice to meet an old friend and pass the time of day
And talk about the home town a million miles away
Is the ice still on the river, are the old folks still the same
And by the way, did she mention my name
Did she mention my name just in passing
And when the morning came, do you remember if she dropped a name or two
Is the home team still on fire, do they still win all the games
And by the way, did she mention my name
Is the landlord still a loser, do his signs hang in the hall
Are the young girls still as pretty in the city in the fall
Does the laughter on their faces still put the sun to shame
And by the way, did she mention my name
Did she mention my name just in passing
And when the talk ran high, did the look in her eye seem far away
Is the old roof still leaking when the late snow turns to rain
And by the way, did she mention my name
Did she mention my name just in passing
And looking at the rain, do you remember if she dropped a name or two
Wont you say hello from someone, theyll be no need to explain
And by the way, did she mention my name

Dont Mention My Heartache

Written by c. wilmore & c. jackson
Hoo, hoo, mm
Dont mention my heartache
I just hide it away
Dont want to remember what brings me pain
Who does it hurt if Im masquerading
When anybody asks me you know Ill say, yeah
That I love him, he loves me
Were so good together
Ill pretend hes home again
Though hes gone forever
Dont mention my heartache
cause I dont want nobody to know, no, no, no
Just keep it a secret that he let me go
cause I dont want nobody to know
That I go through the motions (motions)
Put a smile on my face, yes, I do
I heard that the weather is changing today, yeah, yeah
And I dont talk about my business to noone
If anybody asks me you know what Ill say, yeah

Moneys Too Tight To Mention

I been laid off from work my rent is due
My kids all need brand new shoes
So I went to the bank to see what they could do
They said son looks like bad luck got a hold on you
Moneys too tight to mention
I cant get an unemployment extension
Moneys too tight to mention
I went to my brother to see what he could do
He said brother Id like to help but Im unable to
So called on my father, father
Almighty father, he said
Moneys too tight to mention
Oh money money money money
Moneys too tight to mention
I cant even qualify for my pension
Were talking bout reaganomics
Oh lord down in the congress
Theyre passing all kinds of bills
From up there on capitol hill, weve tried it
Moneys too tight to mention

Don't Mention Memphis

Mister, you can take me into Little Rock
I'll buy the coffee and I'll fill your truck
I'll listen all night if you wanna talk
Just don't mention Memphis
We can talk about your family
Politics and music and philosophy
Any ol' subject's all right with me
Just don't mention Memphis
Or blue eyes
And light brown hair
An angel wavin' to me
From the top of the stairs
The hardest thing I did
Was leave her standing there
So don't mention Memphis
Pass me the thermos and I'll fill your cup
We'll make Texas with a little luck
And I'm hanging with you 'til the sun comes up
So don't mention Memphis
Or blue eyes

If You Talk In Your Sleep

(words & music by red west - johnny christopher)
I know youre a lonely woman and I love you
But someone else is waiting and he owns you
If he should ever wake up, make sure that your story is straight love
If you talk in your sleep dont mention my name
And if you walk in your sleep forget where you came
Walking every night here in the shadows
So afraid that sometime he may follow
Theres always the chance hell find us
I dont need to remind you
If you talk in your sleep dont mention my name
If you walk in your sleep forget where you came
Love is so much sweeter when its borrowed
Ill feel a little easier tomorrow
Dont give our secret away, be careful what you say
If you talk in your sleep dont mention my name
If you walk in your sleep forget where you came
Forget where you came, now
Forget where you came
Dont mention my name

Fundamental of Liar Chapter XCVII: Brand

Please do tell everyone, but don’t mention the brand
The track is there, but don’t mention the brand here
It’s not a big secret, but don’t mention the brand yet
Time soon overcome, and never will be the same again
Even you already know, just don’t mention the brand in front

Merry X-mas?

Say Christ at Christmas, men pause, isn’t it about Santa Claus?
Isn’t he that one, who comes, for all of our daughters our sons,
Bringing presents for everyone, creating for us all, holiday fun?

Say that Jesus is the ultimate Gift; simply creates a spiritual rift,
A gift for whom, they may say, even though it is Christmas Day,
Is not Christmas all about toys, for our precious girls and boys?

Mention at all the baby Jesus; they reply, He is not for all of us,
Speaking of Christ, He’s the one, who came down for everyone,
The only Son of The Eternal God, sent from Heaven to this sod.

Speaking of the Man Jesus Christ, you will create political strife,
For we must be politically correct, not to mention at all that sect,
Christ is never to be spoken of, during a season that we all love.

Mention at Christmas the Savior, many don’t believe in a Creator,
Accountability, they have none; they have no regard for His Son,
Christ, being the one they need, Christmas Truth they don’t heed.

Shared Absence

There are those with abilities to maneuver,
Into positions quick...
Without a hint of suspicion,
That their subtle comments made...
Have been selected to degrade.

They're on a mission to undo someone unknown,
But...
They pick and choose,
Those they hope have similar views...
With shared absence of any truth.

Whispered in the ears,
Is something sure to please.
With a leaving out of what was done,
To get someone to seethe.

Fragmented doses meant to mention,
To create descensions that begin.
And...

Oh, no! We Never Mention Her Parody

Oh no! we never mention her, whose name’s a major crime,
my lips are sealed and privy shields, short memory has Time!
From vote to vote they whip me on, to skip regret, and yet,
although the Poll Tax ain’t to be, I never can forget:

They bid me seek in Brussels’ clique the charms that others see,
but tunnels dug neath channel tug tug deep alarms to me,
‘tis true the view of outfit blue is gone from where we met,
I cannot see free enterprise, - I tries, but can’t forget!

For, oh there are hints near and far recall the past to me,
statistics on the dole, (which mole?) are wholly out at sea;
the rosy tint that still may deck the House – election’s set –
aye every vote I dote upon forbids me to forget!

They tell me she is happy now, and from Divisions free,
they hint that she forgets my need, I heed not, disagree,
perhaps like me she struggles with each feeling of regret, -
but if new Acts lack faith, each fills with facts one can’t forget!

A Classical Revival

At the outset I may mention it's my sovereign intention
To revive the classic memories of Athens at its best,
For my company possesses all the necessary dresses,
And a course of quiet cramming will supply us with the rest.
We've a choir hyporchematic (that is, ballet-operatic)
Who respond to the CHOREUTAE of that cultivated age,
And our clever chorus-master, all but captious criticaster,
Would accept as the CHOREGUS of the early Attic stage.
This return to classic ages is considered in their wages,
Which are always calculated by the day or by the week -
And I'll pay 'em (if they'll back me) all in OBOLOI and DRACHMAE,
Which they'll get (if they prefer it) at the Kalends that are
Greek!

(At this juncture I may mention
That this erudition sham
Is but classical pretension,
The result of steady "cram.":
Periphrastic methods spurning,
To my readers all discerning
