Quotes about smutch

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Fifth Book

AURORA LEIGH, be humble. Shall I hope
To speak my poems in mysterious tune
With man and nature,–with the lava-lymph
That trickles from successive galaxies
Still drop by drop adown the finger of God,
In still new worlds?–with summer-days in this,
That scarce dare breathe, they are so beautiful?–
With spring's delicious trouble in the ground
Tormented by the quickened blood of roots.
And softly pricked by golden crocus-sheaves
In token of the harvest-time of flowers?–
With winters and with autumns,–and beyond,
With the human heart's large seasons,–when it hopes
And fears, joys, grieves, and loves?–with all that strain
Of sexual passion, which devours the flesh
In a sacrament of souls? with mother's breasts,
Which, round the new made creatures hanging there,
Throb luminous and harmonious like pure spheres?–
With multitudinous life, and finally
With the great out-goings of ecstatic souls,

Life Is The Body's Light

Life is the body's light; which, once declining,
Those crimson clouds i' th' cheeks and lips leave shining:-
Those counter-changed tabbies in the air,
The sun once set, all of one colour are:
So, when death comes, fresh tinctures lose their place,
And dismal darkness then doth smutch the face.

Zusammen 1665 Current Version

Some dreams come true,
hand holding hand,
as one may two
e'er understand
existence wins
much joy shared whose
involvement spins
to love none lose.

Heart, once alone,
sole, craving touch,
melts dark, cold stone,
sheds fears, tears' smutch,
as Hope repairs
regrets to ring
new love that dares
reach sky, soul sing.

The Flowers

When Love arose in heart and deed
To wake the world to greater joy,
'What can she give me now?' said Greed,
Who thought to win some costly toy.

He rose, he ran, he stoop'd, he clutch'd;
And soon the Flowers, that Love let fall,
In Greed's hot grasp were fray'd and smutch'd,
And Greed said, 'Flowers! Can this be all?'

He flung them down and went his way,
He cared no jot for thyme or rose;
But boys and girls came out to play,
And some took these and some took those—

Red, blue, and white, and green and gold;
And at their touch the dew return'd,
And all the bloom a thousandfold—
So red, so ripe, the roses burn'd!

Bell Upon Organ

It's all very well,
Said the Bell,
To be the big Organ below!
But the folk come and go,
Said the Bell,
And you never can tell
What sort of person the Organ will blow!
And, besides, it is much at the mercy of the weather
For 'tis all made in pieces and glued together!

But up in my cell
Next door to the sky,
Said the Bell,
I dwell
Very high;
And with glorious go
I swing to and fro;
I swing swift or slow,
I swing as I please,
With summons or knell;

Hysteria Of A Sick Soul From A Friend's Diary

it happened so fast
it was just a blur

i tried to clear
my head of the
whisky fuzz

it was just a
blur,
a film over,
just a glaze over a glassy surface

hope loses clear vision.

Her eyes glazed over
perhaps from lack of sleep

The haze blurs the hills

confuse, obnubilate,

Louse Hunting

Nudes -- stark and glistening,
Yelling in lurid glee. Grinning faces
And raging limbs
Whirl over the floor one fire.
For a shirt verminously busy
Yon soldier tore from his throat, with oaths
Godhead might shrink at, but not the lice.
And soon the shirt was aflare
Over the candle he'd lit while we lay.

Then we all sprang up and stript
To hunt the verminous brood.
Soon like a demons' pantomine
The place was raging.
See the silhouettes agape,
See the glibbering shadows
Mixed with the battled arms on the wall.
See gargantuan hooked fingers
Pluck in supreme flesh
To smutch supreme littleness.

Honesty And Integrity

HONESTY AND INTEGRITY

Honesty and integrity shades of accolade is esteem of humans
Replacement is none priceless they are redemption is a stretch
Riches they are beyond assessment of disdains of commons
Paintings they are in abstract of virtues of moral sketch
Chartered it is in sublime of demeanors procured by attainment
Character is inutile minus the probity like flower without fragrance
One lapse is more than many smutch is for permanent
Worshipped they should be wearing on the sleeves with reverence
Respiring its essence in every breath with dedication and passion
Sculpting an image in its fable as treasure of heirloom
To be passed on as embroidery on fabric of tradition
Infinitely refined to keep its gloss in loom of wisdom

Burning the glow of flames of fire shedding the light
On virtues of honor letting spirit of soul burn bright
