Vanity

He was quite the dresser,
not a thing out of place.
A close, close shave
and cologne on his face
He strutted like a peacock.
He wore shoes that shined.
He fooled all the women
for they were blind.
For what they saw
was a bold-faced lie.
Underneath all this finery
was an ordinary guy.

He was like an actor
playing a role,
fooling many women
was his main goal.
And fool them he did.
He'd done it for years.
He took all their money
and left them in tears.
For women are an easy prey.
They never seem to see
clothes never made a man.
They made his vanity.
