Lagos Island [Two Girls]
One day on Lagos Island
I drove passed
two girls on the
coastland.
As they freeze
From the heat of
The cold winter.
They beckoned
On me as I drove
past in speed on
the bridge
of their local mainland.
I freeze;
Parked and
Comes out to see
What it could be;
Then two girls
I see;
Staring intensely
At me,
They said: you see,
Are you really free?
I asked: why do
you ask me?
I've been driving
By the sea;
And you see
It takes time
To come out this
Bridge.
And my kids;
They're waiting
for me.
Well, you see;
They proceed
To say what they
Mean:
We have come a long
way by the sea,
It's so cold out
There
on the bridge;
The flood drove
us out with natural
Authority,
Could you take
Us in as a refugee?
