The Pain of Missing You
See my heart is ablaze, it's on fire
No, not the kind that stems from your touch; desire
More of the type found in hell's darkest pits of torment
The pain of missing you has turned my heart into one of those pits of torment
In attempt to ease my heart, I walked down memory lane
Hoping images of you would my heart sustain
Alas, into a pool of misery I plunged
And with every memory, deeper I plunged
The memories only made me miss you more
Increasing the pain at my heart's core
Help me, I'm drowning
In a murky pool of misery, I'm drowning
They say out of sight out of mind
Funny how for me it's out of sight running out of my mind
Every night I dream of you and me together
Funny when I awake it's always the same, a cold bed and gloomy weather
It's like a year of winter
Everything seems grey, cold and dead, a forever winter
And today was no different
Not that I thought it would be different
But hey, a girl can hope right?
Even when at the end of the tunnel there isn't any light
*sigh*
Last night I had a heavenly dream
Of you and I ruling the world, the perfect team
You a god and I a goddess
Immortals, our domain, mount Olympus
You held out your hand and said,
"Come, come my love, it's only you and I"
"The stage is set, let us soar, like eagles let us fly"
We are not limited by time you see
For eternity is our playground and thus we shall forever be
Cloud to cloud you chased after me
And teasingly, I ran from thee
The cloud's our bed let's build a storm
The thunder our heartbeats as our bodies combine into one form
Flash, lightning, your beautiful smile
Flash, lightning, I return your smile
But as quickly as the smile came, it's gone
As I hear a terrible beep, something gone wrong
Your image begins to fade as the sound gets louder
I try to hold on but it's like trying to gather powder
Suddenly it's dark
Slowly I open my eyes, dispelling the dark
Reach for the offending alarm
And just like other nights I curse my alarm
I burst into tears overwhelmed with despair
As my heart shatters again into pieces that only you can repair
