American Youths
They filled our heads
with so many dark delusions
they glorified devil and vice
dug the grave of truth and virtue
gave us greed in place of bread
built the iron temple of I
atop the hollowed ground of God
lulled us to sleep
with star spangled
anthems of war
They gift wrapped our reality,
trimmed the fat, seasoned it up,
spoon fed us all we could stomach
Millions of youthful imaginations
held captive for commercial ransom,
kidnapped by fugitive TV screens
Minds soaked with
putrid pentagon agitprop,
Virtual fun and game recruit tool
military joystick indoctrination
Desensitized civilian children -
Imperial arm chair soldiers in training
Home-spun realities
sit com moralities
placebo personalities
all carefully marketed
in one bright easy to swallow pill-
TV, now a glowing phantom pixel mirror
Alas, unidentified youths
blindly groom for sought reflections
Horrified by what lacks inside, they
outwardly revert to over-glorified illusions
Specters of puzzled personalities
wash upon concrete shores
lost lads posing as a teenage pimps
gone lasses as preening preteen whores
Oh but I still have faith,
witnessing what they have done to our parents,
we shall awake to the light and prevail!
OH scattered and aflame remains
of tattered, scatological brains
Let us bond, one and all, united
let us hone and sharpen our aim
