Never Lets You to Sleep
The known inflicted injury never lets you to sleep
In one corner of world you constantly repent and weep
That lessens the burden to some extent but you are grieved
Something wrong has been done in past and that is sincerely believed
I did it even after facts were known
The aircraft was intensely blown
The unarmed people were done to death
Entire enemy nation condoled and laid the wreath
“I am extremely sorry” for what I did five decades earlier
I would be condemned by history and termed as liar
I am unable to pardon for so called nationalistic act
The mystery behind it remains as unknown fact
I rang up all the hair apparent of crash victims
There hardly remained any reminiscences
I sincerely apologized for what had been termed as a hostile act
As a soldier I had no option but to obey and not to react
I knew the aircraft was not on surveillance
It was on routine sortie with V.I.P’s presence
Hardly any trace of weapon of destruction
But we had to shoot down with clear instructions
The aircraft was showing some sign of helplessness
I could read the message and find the mess
The innocents were to be going down for no faults
I was going to shoot it down with clear guilt
After many long years of silence I sympathize
With the bereaved families and honestly realize
How was it great error of misjudgment?
When two powers were involved at hostile movements
Both countries had lost substantially in men and material
Opportunistic statements were made to fool the people with denials
God only knows who suffered most on both the sides
The differences grew in large proportions and very wide
I look back and analyze the gravity of situation
The war is no option and has no logic for its continuation
We, the solders, are defender of the countries frontier
Our position and sentiments were never realized earlier
