Little Has Changed

In days of yore she would have been
condemned by neighbours as a witch
Their lack of caring was obscene.
They would have “Swum “her in some ditch.
If she survived she was guilty
If she did not quite innocent
They showed her little charity
a facts that’s all too evident
In modern times it’s different.
We merely have her put away
in some old peoples home: Content
she is no longer in our way
Once out of sight she’s out of mind.
Solution of a different kind
