Free Letter to Tanja
You would give ten of your stories
For one of my letters
Let your stories remain yours
Let the letter be free.
Here I am writing you a letter.
I think about us:
Sometimes we are like children
Rejoicing over a gift:
Honest and loud.
Once, in a serious voice
Of a good old professor
We give each other advice.
Sometimes, like old friends,
We share the memories,
And we have never met.
Sometimes like accidental companions
In a tram or an airplane
We talk about the weather.
But we never talk
As former or future lovers,
And that is the magic,
Which, if vanishes
We will no longer be poets
We will be just simple mortals.
