To Faithful Joseph
If I were Potiphar's wife,
would you run away from me;
would you rather turn your back
and leave me miserably?
If I were far more beautiful than her,
can you look away from me;
can you push away my willing arms
from holding you endlessly?
If I in fate and life have failed,
If marrying him was wrong -
have found you and love along,
would you forsake me all alone?
If it's only you I dream of,
and heavens brought you to me...
Is it too much to ask of you
to run away with me?
