Home, Sweet Home

HOME, SWEET HOME

The rusty radiator leaks,
paint peals in sodden streaks,
sharp mouse, beneath bleak floorboards, squeaks,
the end result just reeks!

Warped window panes, if not antiques,
are holey, front door creaks,
we’re far too far from chic boutiques,
unknown are arab sheiks.

The port side neighbour seldom speaks
to cliques to starboard, piques
between old hippies and poor geeks
seem standard stress techniques.

Their frequent quarrels rise to shrieks,
as each one 'justice seeks'.
I haven't lived here many weeks,
Warm rooms elsewhere lost soul now seeks.
