Breakaway
Pink,
blue,
and lavender
paint the sky
Gorgeous.
It is agreeable on her.
The color of her adornment.
As the setting sun
shows off
her glory
with brilliant
hues
and bold strokes,
the girl
feels inspired
as she beholds
the sunset's beauty, tranquility,
and breathtaking passion.
Her burdens
have pushed her down
recently.
Sometimes she unconsciously
sells herself short.
Sometimes she wants
to run away.
Far away.
The ocean calls out to her,
and she doubts she will ever
miss the cornfields
or the snow.
She wants to breakaway.
The song plays in her head.
Is what she has enough to keep her here?
There are those
who would attempt
to stop her.
But they
cannot make the choice for her.
They do not walk
where she walks.
They do not deal
with what she deals with.
Discouragement is
not a friend to her.
Hope tries to encourage her.
Lack shines a spotlight
and laughs at her.
