Have to Keep It Short
Was going to write a long poem
but decided to keep it short
hope it's not writers block
or laziness and lack of thought?
But we all get days like these
when ideas just will not come
you sit waiting for inspiration
but end up sucking your thumb.
But I bet even the greats
had off days now and then
when they couldn't write a poem
but the next day banged off ten.
So that's the end of this one
as my brain has gone on strike
I'll have to do something else
like go for a ride on my mountain bike!
