To My Mother a forgotten Martyr
Neither listed in a textbook,
or in the passing of a scripture
But the model of parental virtue
A saintly jewel of unyielding endearment
Who binds the spell of a child's love

And in your saintly demeanor
Repaired the damaged in our souls
A sage of youthful grace, I retired from your insight
Pridefully neglecting the wisdom of your sermons
I naturally inclined myself, down a cul de sac of fully
And in alleys of despair, yours was the saving grace
I treadled through the murk, and to your arms of benediction
Where my salvation was won through the warmth of your heart
They say the greatest joy in life
