Freedom

For freedom you and I enjoy.
At the cost of blood and tears.
Of those warriors all.
Who stand in harm’s way.

What compensation
must be petitioned?
To satisfy the toll
of those who gave so much.

To some merely a word.
A word tossed loosely around.
To use and abuse
over and over for personal gain.

What would our country be
without it’s freedom?
How much torment
would we suffer?

How much would we lose?
If no one stood fast
to check evil’s tide?
Our freedom protect it well.
