Broken Promise
for a moment all went quiet
as quiet as the day
gray colored winter's beginnings
frozen in dismay
she felt his eyes upon her
turning instinctively
for a moment all that existed
vanished
except the space in between
he is the story with no ending
that begs to be retold
he is the secret unshared
that even he doesn't know
the fight resumed within her
as she drove away
promised herself no more tears
but she broke that promise today
