Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lake

Her gentle nature,
Light as a petal's touch
set in a motionless gaze,
steady as a fine Athenian sculpture...

Hair a blonde-white cloud of spiraling ringlets
settled to her shoulders,
eyes rare cerulean blue, stolen from
those incomparable lake pools in the Italian Alps,
or so they tell me...I have never been there, at least not until now.

Her fair skin would deepen to a rose-flush,
if she knew I worshiped her this way,
If she knew how she caused my pulse to gallop.
her fabled lips would purse,
she would flash a quick change of subject,
fighting the bemused smile of one subjected to flattery,

Hear as she quotes scripture, now,
Something from Corinthians...
Just like the Sad-eyed Lady.
