Childish thoughts like these
Childish thoughts like these
~
Why do I find the urge
To stamp in a puddle
Left by the passing rain
Like some childhood reminisce
To kick and laugh needlessly
It makes no sense
Yet there I am thinking it
As I walk the streets daily
~
A can left on the pavement
I cannot help but kick it
Run with it between my feet
Even though littering is wrong
I could pick it up and bin it
But I choose not to
~
I saw a squirrel run
Up a tree and over branches
I gave it a merry hello
Like I would greet the family dog
I may have looked foolish
But I did it anyway
~
I’m still a kid at heart sometimes
Growing up wasn’t fun
The adult life’s complicated
I miss my young innocence
