Let Me Die Upon The Sea
Let me die upon the sea
to reincarnate as a wave
beryl blue and fearless
undulating in my grave
Where I shall be as boundless
as the energy within
and I will know not
where I ended or where I began
Let me die upon the sea
calamitous, dangerous,
full of power, beauty, worth
So that I will be remembered
Forget the spongy earth!
Land is not for me
But oh, the mighty sea!
I wrestle with it every night
inside in my dreams
Let me die upon the sea
and when I come to rise offshore
among the other swells
I will make you
a hurricane upon my lips
and hours will seem like years
when passed between my fingertips
Let me die upon the sea
Where white stripes strip
my fleshy bones
and pound them into spray
carried a thousand miles from home
Where I do not belong
To die alone
