God!
Grant this prayer.
Let me receive in true humility
accolades for talents
the world deems I really possess -
Let no pride gain to my top
and key my head
to uncontrollable spins-
Let me ever respect my elders
through pleasing virtues
and mild manners-
Let my heart and tongue
fine-tune to truth
when speech blossoms on lips-
Let me ever remain grateful to everyone
who with fondness and care
chiselled me what I am-
Let me thank every day and hour
every soul which lightens my life
through its skills or beauty-
Let my writings as straight as sunrise
and as simple as full moon
and none dig deep for diamonds
in streaming sweat and biting pain-.
Let me ever sing my songs knowing well
I am a blade of grass ever under threat of death!
