Gulmohar's Seed-pods

gulmohar's seed-pods

since the advent of spring season in april

crores of blossoms of gulmohar

in waves after waves turned the tree top

in riotous red carpeting the green-

it is september; the tree looks plundered-

a few flowers here and there look weary too-

a hundred or so sheathed swords

tucked into the branches are seen!

o what then was the fate of

those millions of reds that shone bright?

were they barren, mercilessly doomed to dust,

without a vision of their posterity?

o nature! inscrutable are your ways!
