Psychic Crimes
Too terribly alone
In this friendless place,
I wish we could meet
In the city rain
By the bakery
And the bus stop;
Without you,
I feel depressed
And insane.
It seems crazy,
But the last time
I saw you,
I swear, there were
Crushed roses
In the sunset.
I stood
In the lakeside breeze
Following fondly
How the wind
Would kiss and tease
Your brown hair;
And I remember
All the time we spent
In that lost dandelion summer
Of innocence,
We were falling in love
In the simplicity of youth.
In time,
Adulthood and failures,
Unkind words,
And spiritual adulteries,
Psychic crimes
Like tattoos
Impossible to remove.
In muted despair,
I silently search
For prayers
To reconnect my dreams
To my reality,
But there is only
This insufferable agony
Of not being the one
To make you smile
Or place a flower
