For the Hillsborough Lost

On Hillsborough’s field this day they fell
Ninety six life extinguished in this shackled hell
Young and old, it did not matter
Families dreams this tragedy did shatter
Crushed against barriers of steel
For them those bells mourn and peal
Football lost its life that day
On this day by the thousands they pray
Mourning the loss twenty years on
The memories so horrific, will never be gone
A carpet of flowers on this field they lay
In total remembrance of this day
Still the mothers of the lost despondently cry
Asking why, getting no real reply
Barriers now rejected
Safety no more to be neglected
Liverpool will never forget
One football match, filled with regret

* You will never walk alone*
