Missing the Roses
Entwined within the brambles now,
a breath ~ a tremulous sigh!
Life's beauty lingers ever-near,
within the roses nigh.
Sweet rose, so dear, your beauty fain,
to shield with petals strong.
Yet, one day life will leave me lorn,
beside your prickly thorns.
The memory, oh the memory, mourn,
when the warming essence wans.
How sadly will your visage pale,
and heartfelt grief be bourne.
Sweet rose, so dear, your beauty feigns,
with poignant lie now lain,
upon your bed of brambled stems ~
'tis there you shall remain.
Entwined within the brambles now,
a breath ~ a tremulous sigh!
What melancholy lingers near,
within the roses nigh.
The memory, oh the memory, mourn,
when warming essence may wan.
How sadly will your visage burn,
'til you return anon!
