The Drifter [A different start to the poem “If only”]
As free as a leaf blowing in sync with the wind
Slowly moving where ever it wants
No certain knowledge of where it was headed
No certain path
No certain destiny
No certain future
Its life as a dream
And with it no rules
Its life as a lonely one
But the one it will choose
And as it danced its graceful dance
Sighing its lonely sigh
It Places its head up to the lonely sky
Saying:
“If only if only a wood pecker sigh
The bark on the tree
Would be as soft as the sky
And as the wolf sits there
Lonely and hungry
It cries to the mooo-o-oon
If only if only”
