This Is What Depression Is Like

Loss of interest
and depression
filling me.
Quiet and uncaring
I sit alone.
I know I'm hurting people
with my silence
but I can't talk long.
Things stabbing at my heart,
all happiness repelling me.
Smiling
whenever I see
the thing that hurts me most.
Tears beginning to form,
the depression
sets in deeper.
Settling into cracks and crevices.
Cutting loose stitches,
unwrapping barbwire
that held pieces together.
People forgetting or replacing
and I only smile.
Rumors spread and hatred collected
and I only laugh.
Days beginning to blend together.
Each day's the same,
just less in each passing hour.
But why does this matter to you?
I'm just another girl succumbing
to the depression
and the madness within.
