Quotes about wisdom, page 17

Now You Are Perfected

there is always death
coming
death has always
been here with us

it is silent and does not
say anything
it is us
in this delirium fearing him

we talk too much
until we are silenced by
death
and death still is silent

it knows
what the ripe time is
it knows
where it is taking us

Coptic Song

LEAVE we the pedants to quarrel and strive,

Rigid and cautious the teachers to be!
All of the wisest men e'er seen alive

Smile, nod, and join in the chorus with me:
"Vain 'tis to wait till the dolt grows less silly!
Play then the fool with the fool, willy-nilly,--

Children of wisdom,--remember the word!"

Merlin the old, from his glittering grave,
When I, a stripling, once spoke to him,--gave

Just the same answer as that I've preferr'd;
"Vain 'tis to wait till the dolt grows less silly!
Play then the fool with the fool, willy-nilly,--

Children of wisdom,--remember the word!"

The Philosophy Of Kemalism

True wisdom embraces
the knowledge
that no singular mortal man

alone without the eureka
insights of God
given moments can foresee

past all the fortuitous
opportunities
arising kaleidoscopic

decisions repercussions
reverberate
through lives individual

effecting families nations
when people of power
impose their mighty will.

Olney Hymn 6: Wisdom

'Ere God had built the mountains,
Or raised the fruitful hills;
Before he fill'd the fountains
That feed the running rills;
In me from everlasting,
The wonderful I am,
Found pleasures never wasting,
And Wisdom is my name.

'When, like a tent to dwell in,
He spread the skies abroad,
And swathed about the swelling
Of Ocean's mighty flood;
He wrought by weight and measure,
And I was with Him then:
Myself the Father's pleasure,
And mine, the sons of men.'

Thus Wisdom's words discover
Thy glory and Thy grace,

I Wish That I Could Have Stayed In My Twenties

Life seemed so good when I was in my twenties
Before time left me looking old and gray
I used to play Soccer and Gaelic football
And I could run and chase the ball all day.

I was never much good at soccer or Gaelic football
Though like many others I too dreamt of fame
But I did not play for esteem and honours
I only played because I loved the game

I wish that I could have stayed in my twenties
Life is much better for those in their prime
But on looking back three decades passed so quickly
And one can't turn back the hands of time.

It has been said that with gray hairs there's wisdom
But as often is the case it isn't so
Some people as they age they grow less tolerant
And they seemed to have more wisdom years ago.

Wisdom

(Proverbs, viii. 22-31)

"Ere God had built the mountains,
Or raised the fruitful hills;
Before he fill'd the fountains
That feed the running rills;
In me from everlasting,
The wonderful I am,
Found pleasures never wasting,
And Wisdom is my name.

"When, like a tent to dwell in,
He spread the skies abroad,
And swathed about the swelling
Of Ocean's mighty flood;
He wrought by weight and measure,
And I was with Him then:
Myself the Father's pleasure,
And mine, the sons of men."

Life’s Lessons

From our very birth we enroll in life’s school,
Adhere to wisdom and don’t be counted a fool,
After we first learn to dine, converse and walk,
We find instruction on teachers board in chalk,
Then much advanced education we seek to find,
Merely with worldly jumble we pack our mind,
Truthful wisdom to us our ancestors did impart,
From which we chose straight away to depart,
Moral principles from our youth we were taught,
But after worldly gratification it was we sought,
Youthful life was lived fast; rolling and rocking,
Then the school of hard knocks came a knocking,
And for true knowledge my empty soul yearned,
But only selfishness in everything I had learned,
So blinded by worldly mind-set I could not see,
Others mattered and that it was not all about me,
The golden rule I’ve found to be absolutely true,
Do unto others as you would have them do to you,
Ancient wisdom makes for much brighter days,
Abundant truth can only be found in GOD’s ways!

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell
Ragged and dusty like the roads it took
It sounded apeace like a church and its bell
And the highest steeple that can take a look
Into the sky with never the same clouds
The most secret fourth element of blue
To put the thought into golden moulds
Of a faith and a dream of both me and you

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell
The stones stood still by the burden doors
Perceptions closed divorced heaven from hell
And all tribes rose in ancient folk lores
Into the sky with never the same limits
Reaching beyond a fragile countenance
With numberless marbles in colourful digits
Counting the time of final transcendence

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell
Its robes on fire plague purified paid

Wise Words

Those old still waters
Run deep
When wisdom is the word
We keep -
Way up
Way down
And everything
All around -
The dark
The light
Into day, and
Out of night -
The wink of an eye
Watching clouds fly by
Sheds tears upon the sun
For the day that's all done -
Sing along
Words of a living song
With the strangers you've yet to meet
Down an untravelled street -

Mr. And Mrs. James Akpan II

Of your spiritual inner-self,
Of my spiritual inner-self,
But, i am made among the people of this earth!
And, wisdom is my first priority;
However, Mrs. Akpan will still remember her words towards me on the day of the contract.

This muse of life is now being elevated with the peace of the mind,
These works of joy are now being seen among you all!
With the indications of love from my mind to influence you;
And like the road leading to the house of the royal elephant,
But, i am what i am today with the sweet muse of life.

Wisdom leads to great success! !
back in the days, and to remember this journey on the very hard road;
But, with the muse of my roots in mind to deliver my works,
However, i am what i am today with the sweet muse of life.

Peace and joy to the Akpan family whom i met some years ago in Lagos (Nigeria) !
For, my heart will always bring out peace and joy to all with my works;
And my mouth shall always speak out wisdom to teach many,
