The Closet

In the closet hung her dresses
and her shoes were on the floor.
She would not wear the dresses now
nor the shoes anymore.
He could not give her clothes away.
He smelled them everyday.

In the closet hung her robes
and nightgowns that were sheer.
She would not wear them in the nights,
her nights no longer here.
He could not give them all away.
He fingered them every day.

In the closet he felt close to her
and spoke in whispered word.
'I remember how you looked in these.'
He spoke as if she heard.
'I cannot give your clothes away.
They're all I have of you today.'

First Person Omniscient

I made her tell me of the affair,
every detail,

and I became him, the man who pulled
her into the closet,

opening the many rooms of her mouth,
knobs spinning,

and then I was her, pulling him
by the tongue

through the river of rooms in the mansion
of my mouth,

his eyes pressing into me, his eye
seeing all,

and then I was the closet, the space
they traveled through

Times' Closet

Rummaging through Time's Closet
small scenes and quiet joys
looking I
for Meaning's Ploy
which hides in corners
perhaps there is even a secret door in there
where I can or will deploy
some new found secret power
which will make my Time Closet
Grand.
But for now there are only small things
some tattered, semi-hopes
some sweet things
and many many dangling memories
which I take out occasionally;
some to mend and re-make
where reality was too bleak;
I cuddle these
infusing them
with words I never said

Diamond in the rough

My teammates don’t know.
Surely none can suspect-
When I leave from the game
I don’t go home direct.

My lockers my closet,
And in it I hide
my alternate lifestyle
That some wear with pride

Reporters surround me
on the locker-room prowl
I patiently answer,
dripping wet, in a towel.

I’m a likeable guy
And I don’t duck the press
And they never suspect
How I look in a dress.

Out at the Plate

A Smothering of Poets

A love which ends badly-
if we let it-
freezes Time;

and we move on
covering it;

leaving it unchanged and unresolved.

We plant the last Kiss
with a question mark
knotted in the Semi-finish..

We drag our Dead Poet Love
into the future
bound and gagged
in the truck of the car
because all past loves
are Dead Poets;

In The Closet

There is more in the closet,
Coming out of them these days.
More besides clothes, coats...
And those sneaking to get quick booty,
To hide to 'get off'
Like teenagers in a rage.

Not too many today,
Care who does what to whom.
Except those living in smaller towns...
Where there is nothing else to do,
Other than to test the beds
In their neighbors' bedrooms!

And having sex with pets!
And other kinds of sexual digressions.

'But you didn't hear that from me.
Just in case you're in the mood for steamy gossip! '

Virgin Ground

He was the neighbor boy
and I, the city girl
banished to the countryside
to the grandparents,
to learn hard work
on the dairy-farm.

The rumbling train after the long flight,
jumbled my brain;
everything outside that train window
bumped along;
seemed jumbled isolated,
alien; and I felt alone.

I sat next to an older woman
who without looking whispered
see the pretty cow?

Her grandchild came
from the bathroom late—

She Loved Me; I Loved Her Not-Chapter Two

Audrey stood in front of the mirror that night
with the radio on staring at her body
in just in her bra and panties
evaluating her body, comparing her body,
her hair, her mouth, her behind
to Carly's
putting tissue paper in her bra cups
trying to get them look like Carly's breasts
puffing out her behind

pouting her lips
trying on a shade of lipstick
of lip gloss
that matched the kinds Carly wore.

She put her shortest shirt
thinking to hem to make it shorter
but not too short;
She didn't want to look cheap;
she would have to hide it in her backpack to get it out of the house.

Tag, You're It

Let's assume
That he's the groom
And he's been waiting
To consummate all night
And you're the bride
You're locked tight
Inside the bathroom
And you're overcome with freight
Now here's the chiller
He's the killer
You've discovered
You're trapped, alone, you're scared
We cut to you, we move in close
You're catatonic
You get a close up there
And in this shot
Here's what we got
He breaks the door down
And tears your nightgown lace
You see a can, it's aerosol
