Extendibly Kept

Greatness declared,
Seems almost too simple to say.
Too simple to adorn that which isn't...
With such a high placed esteem.

Greatness just to say,
With few ways of it expressed.
Seems as if a parody,
Of what isn't there with wishes it could be.

A greatness achieved and extendibly kept,
Takes a constant self reflection.
And a careful watching of one's steps.

A greatness achieved and extendibly kept,
Takes repeated self examination.
With a wanting always to do one's best.

Greatness declared,
Seems almost too simple to say.

No Colour

Soft is the petal of a rose.
Wet is the dew on it’s head
Sweet is the fragrance of a flowers scent.
Loud are the cries from an infant.
What colours adorn these things?
What beauty do I miss?
The petal is soft under my touch,
almost velvet in suggestion.
My teardrops taste salty,
as they run my cheek.
Waves of fragrances sweep through the air,
as their perfume surrounds me.
Strange cries I hear in morning hours,
awake me from a sleepy head.
You take all this for granted,
what I miss as I pass this way.
You see what I can’t imagine,
now and everyday.
I walk with a white stick,
as I travel on my way.

Sophia’s Fool’s-Cap

SOPHIA was a little child,
Obliging, good, and very mild,
Yet lest of dress she should be vain,
Mamma still dress'd her well, but plain.
Her parents, sensible and kind,
Wish'd only to adorn her mind;
No other dress, when good, had she,
But useful, neat simplicity.

Though seldom, yet when she was rude,
Or ever in a naughty mood,
Her punishment was this disgrace,
A large fine cap, adorn'd with lace,
With feathers and with ribbons too;
The work was neat, the fashion new,
Yet, as a fool's-cap was its name,
She dreaded much to wear the same.

A lady, fashionably gay,
Did to mamma a visit pay:

OCEAN OF LOVE Vavroovahana Patra

Lord Jagannath’s Bada Deula is an Ocean of love, delight;
Devotees surrender on Bhagavan’s feet with gaiety.
Bhagaban attracts all devotees of Earth;
Puri, the Vaikuntha on Earth is a brook of mirth.

All the Deities adorn the temple-shrine;
The devotees drink the nectar of love as drunkards to wine.
Brother Valabhadra, sister Subhadra adorn the altar;
The temple is an Ocean of Nectar.

Monsters become devotees on the Shrine;
Criminals become saints drinking the nectar of love’s wine.
Sinners pray jagannath to cross the Ocean of tears;
Bhagavan pardons the sinners, fulfils their desires.

Deities and devotees sing the Glory of Jangannath;
He is an Ocean of love, peace and mirth.
Jagannath is the Generator, Operator, Director of all creatures;
Showering Peace contents all Bhaktas’ desire.

Opening Hymn

[Sung at the Opening of the Queensland National Society's Exhibition,
1876.]
While nations joining gifts
Their fanes of Art adorn,
Hear, Lord, the lowly voice that lifts
The song of the youngest-born.
The gifts of the youngest-born,
We spread them forth to Thee,—
What toil hath wrought, what skill hath taught,
What Freedom hath brought the free.

No storied name we vaunt,
Nor martial trophies raise;
No battle-riven banners flaunt
The triumphs of other days.
But triumphs of peaceful days
Adorn our jubilee:
Here toil and skill Thine ends fulfil,
With hands that from blood are free.

Face And Fix Those Obstacles

Face and fix those obstacles.
If ignored they will continue to grow.
If you don't do it,
They will never let you go.
And you will be the one regretting...
With eyes not words seen,
With an eyebrow or two lifted...
Expressing this, 'We told you so! '

Face and fix those obstacles.
If ignored they will continue to grow.
If you don't do it,
They will never let you go.
And you will be the one regretting...
With eyes not words seen,
With an eyebrow or two lifted...
Expressing this, 'We told you so! '

Scoop them up with a boot.
Don't be the one regretting.

To Hide In Disguise Those Weak and Fragile

Although their calculated misdeeds succeeded,
They appear to now fear...
The repercussions of their activities.
And looking weak and fragile...
Without the armor worn to adorn their fetes.

Guaranteed to show in battle defeat,
That enemy to knock off their feet.
And from them to squeeze a victory sweet.
To hide in disguise those weak and fragile.

Blossoms

Flowers lovely, marvellous gift from God,
They deck the Earth, they give delight,
They drape the dales and adorn the hills,
They feast the eyes and fill the hearts.

My life blooms when plants are abloom,
Each morn, I gaze at flowers in myriad hues,
That adorn the garden my mother keeps,
Her prized possession next to her kids.

Through the arch window, Roses are in sight,
Chrysanthemums and Daisies, they grow in rows,
The white Lilies and the purple Tulips,
They seem to delight in their contrast shades.

In summer I watch the butterflies flitting around,
Also the honey bees that come to steal the pollen from the blooms,
Small birds that dart into twining boughs,
Build nests in the secret hide of bushy trees.

Davideis: A Sacred Poem Of The Troubles Of David (excerpt)

BOOK I (excerpt)
I sing the man who Judah's sceptre bore
In that right hand which held the crook before;
Who from best poet, best of kings did grow;
The two chief gifts Heav'n could on man bestow.
Much danger first, much toil did he sustain,
Whilst Saul and Hell cross'd his strong fate in vain.
Nor did his crown less painful work afford;
Less exercise his patience, or his sword;
So long her conqueror fortunes spite pursued;
Till with unwearied virtue he subdued
All homebred malice, and all foreign boasts;
Their strength was armies, his the Lord of Hosts.

Thou, who didst David's royal stem adorn,
And gav'st him birth from whom thy self wast born;
Who didst in triumph at death's court appear,
And slew'st him with thy nails, thy cross and spear,
Whilst Hell's black tyrant trembled to behold,
The glorious light he forfeited of old;

Upon The Saying That My Verses Were Made By Another

Next Heaven my Vows to thee (O Sacred Muse!)
I offer'd up, nor didst thou them refuse.

O Queen of Verse, said I, if thou'lt inspire,
And warm my Soul with thy Poetique Fire,
No Love of Gold shall share with thee my Heart,
Or yet Ambition in my Brest have Part,
More Rich, more Noble I will ever hold
The Muses Laurel, than a Crown of Gold.
An Undivided Sacrifice I'le lay
Upon thine Altar, Soul and Body pay;
Thou shalt my Pleasure, my Employment be,
My All I'le make a Holocaust to thee.

The Deity that ever does attend
Prayers so sincere, to mine did condescend.
I writ, and the Judicious prais'd my Pen:
Could any doubt Insuing Glory then?

What pleasing Raptures fill'd my Ravisht Sense?
