Quotes about flag, page 62
Our American Heroes
They are true American heroes
The reason America is strong
God Bless America was written
For them and is completely their song
We worship the ground they walk on
We take pride in the people they are
For all the stripes on our flag
Are for them along with the stars
Memories weigh heavily on their shoulders
But others they proudly will tell
For they too saw American heroes
In friends they made and knew well
Yes, they are our American heroes
We cherish them wherever they go
I’ll bet they do not fully realize
That we sincerely treasure them so!

Shoot For The Benefit Of Man
The gun does not make you a hero.
The flag you bear, does not give you an automatic right.
To shoot anyone you see fit,
Anyone you catch on sight.
A murder is a murder,
No matter what your general tells you so.
Are you prepared for the bloodshed?
Can you handle the families woe?
Yes, if there were any other way.
We would have tried it by now.
The gun gives you a godly power,
your word is law, with the final blow.
But do not shoot for the love of power,
Do not shoot just because you can.
Shoot because you have to.
Shoot for the benefit of all man.

Some Sort Of War Poem
death, killing sprees
jews and gypsies
thundering pain
english campaign
sirens blazing
buildings blaring
babies screaming
eyes are streaming
with colour of red & white
our flag takes flight
proudly floating in the air
but still exists warfare
however imporvements can be made
with concrete, steel and a spade

The Soldier Fights
the soldier fights for the hippys rights to protest against that soldier
the soldier fights for the politions rights to send that soldier to war
the soldier fights for buisness mans rights to make money
the soldier fights for the policemans rights to arrest that soldier
the soldier fights for school kids right to know about past soldiers
the soldier fights to so that you may all sleep at night
the soldier fights for religion so that you may all belive what you wish
And yet the soldier fights on
the soldier fights for his flag, for his country, for his life
The Soldier's Grave
Breathe not a whisper here;
The place where thou dost stand is hallowed ground;
In silence gather near this upheaved mound -
Around the soldier's bier.
Here Liberty may weep,
And Freedom pause in her unchecked career,
To pay the sacred tribute of a tear
O'er the pale warrior's sleep.
That arm now cold in death,
But late on glory's field triumphant bore
Our country's flag; that marble brow once bore
The victor's fadeless wreath.
Rest soldier, sweetly rest;
Affection's gentle hand shall deck thy tomb
With flowers and chaplets of unfading bloom
Be laid upon thy breast.

A Soldier Blue
A soldier blue once walked past me
With flag and gun for all to see
Shouts i hurrah for you are brave
Our King and country you will save
But as he marched i noticed that
Beneath his hardened soldiers hat
An empty stare that held the thought
Of all the horrors battle brought
He marched a line so straight and true
With comrades also dressed in blue
A sense of pride we all could feel
As on they marched from toe to heel
But as they disappeared from view
Their colours flying proud and true
Thought i of soldier blue once more
His stare that told the truth of war.

Peace
Peace is white
White be, a dove, a flag
High snow, higher clouds, higher more twinklings
White is tranquil, honarable, reliable, honest and decent
But white is dubious too
As the sparklings dotted in black sky
And black is immoral, bad, evil and sorrow
Yet black is utile too
Like these writings on peaceful white
White is the most sought
As wite is peace disliking conflicts
Yet peace is stuck with wars 'cause
Providence eventuates agitating criminal energy
Beyond love and hate, pain and pleasure
Hidden in is peace special
An exclusive providence unknowing to create evil

031910b Yellow Birds On The Green
i see. group of tiny yellow birds
gatherings seeds at the green
they hop, hop and start to sing
they never scratch the ground
they just eat what they can find
bobbing their heads in rhyme
a golf ball landed at the fringe
two went hop hop to investigate
and came back with message
time to disappear by the trees
they're up there quick, grooming
some offer to help, maybe courting
after the ball is putted to the cup
flag is raise to flirt with breeze
they came down picking seeds
they don't bother fading laughs
playful ones want a piggy back
only to be bitten and wing whack

Military Training
Hearing morning bugle, I rushed to the flag-raising rite.
The ugly cotton-wadded quilt was deemed to be alright.
I was not up to the standard in parade and shooting.
Face with mud; helmet with leaves, I was camouflaging.
After training, all overseas students would be away.
The platoon leader was happy to be on holiday.
Cherishing our friendship, all people must say good-bye.
We drank wine in the graduation party and I did cry.

Slowly Toward The Sky
My body aches from end to end-
Where is she going,
I suppose from elementary to high school
Is her end:
As she pledges allegiance to the flag
Every morning—
In her equalized standards—what will
She go home thinking:
What has she learned—is this the Harlem
Renaissance—
Is this her last amen?
And if this is just an echo of the final
School bus she takes to school,
Then she will think nothing of
That echo—
Even as if she were an alligator who learned
To cry,
The foxes creeping slowly toward the
Vineyards,
The airplanes creeping slowly toward the sky.
