Jack Kerouac

How to Meditate

-lights out-
fall, hands a-clasped, into instantaneous
ecstasy like a shot of heroin or morphine,
the gland inside of my brain discharging
the good glad fluid (Holy Fluid) as
i hap-down and hold all my body parts
down to a deadstop trance-Healing
all my sicknesses-erasing all-not
even the shred of a 'I-hope-you' or a
Loony Balloon left in it, but the mind
blank, serene, thoughtless. When a thought
comes a-springing from afar with its held-
forth figure of image, you spoof it out,
you spuff it off, you fake it, and
it fades, and thought never comes-and
with joy you realize for the first time
'thinking's just like not thinking-
So I don't have to think

Coming Soon

It's coming.
I can feel it's soon.
In my heart a sonic boom.
All alone here in my room.
A wonderful feeling looms.
Knowing that it's coming very soon.

All the time that I've been waiting,
contemplating when it will come.
Now I don't feel quite so dumb.
In my heart the lightness comes.
Cause I know where it comes from.

Ever closer drawing near.
A little shred of loathing fear.
I can't believe it's almost here.
I take pride in what I know so dear.
That what I need is coming here.

It's very soon I have no doubt.

An Enigma Forever

Locked up beyond capacity, and free to roam wherever and whenever.

Understanding, complete with an open heart, and closed shut beyond all compassion, nor a shred of remorse.

Welcoming to all parties, big or small, short or long; embracing the somber solitude, and can sleep peacefully in solitude.

Driving far to explore new locales, experience unique feelings of spontaneity; driving to get away from what you're stuck with, yet it's closer than it appears on your mirror.

Excited of the possibilities of camaraderie, uncharted human relationships; rather burnt out, perhaps stick with the routine of monotony.

The contradiction and unification that's conjoined; a man...

Give You What?

Give you WHAT?
Time?
Whose?
Mine?

What on Earth have you done with yours?
And what makes you think I am going to give you mine?
Do you know how much of it I have spent in development?
To produce what today I can without a shred of doubt,
In other minds to have them discriminate to define?
And you want my time to do what?
Help you find your own that has been WASTED?
As you sat around procrastinating on your 'ifs' and 'buts'.

My days being your fool,
No longer exists!
I gave that nonsense up.

Give you WHAT?
Time?

Fall Of A Tender Doctrine

Talking of existence and being,
amidst chaos and misery
my heart aches. In truth,
I become a shred of broken
life. Your integrity at a price,
anything for sale.
How easy we are degenerating,
absent-mindedly we clamour for antidotes.

At least death is not corrupt,
when it eats the age
without a mask.
Seeing without eyes
was a great achievement,
I thought. With no thoughts
I watched the immensity
of truth. My choice always had a wet eye.

When the thinking becomes zero,
I enter from smile to grief

Katrina: The Shrimpers Tried Their Best

Twilight sprinkles mist over October waves...
Ribbing docks, straining through nets...
Into sunset boats waiting for tides...
Wishes of months vanishing in weeks...

When brown water seethes, barren
As ash...no one knows, as ropes loosen
Again...
The night harvest will be dreams in waking
Sunrises...nets empty, dripping water...

Bridges open, shut, open once more...
It is only October. Cold. Seagulls keep
Boats company by sunset again...
Flying, sweeping, well fed...

On their own, soaring down on unwary
Fish, too-slow crabs...empty shadows
Shred into webs of too-soon
Family Holidays...yet,

Lend the Tears

lying in bed
imagining the sleepiness night
thinking of you; a reason
why the flower
ready to touch and detach,
patiently gone and letting each
leaves to weather
under the sun, the reason
why watching
the whole day gives the birds and butterfly
to fly

slash wit my solemn tears
of the past,
enjoyed the water lucidly, clear the way
to the river full,
a great moment of satisfaction lent for
a whole moment of the past

peril the wings

Head Treads upon Heart's Shreds

Set is dream star which once brightly,
clear, fearless, in firmament shone,
luck's slighted, insight's dimmed, Timets slight see
grieves sleeves, life's sheeved leaves waned. Wail wan!

Shred-wed, disillusion, stark spite see,
life's cancelled game, quest, aim, fĂȘte's fun;
in tatters Fate scatters forthrightly
grace pace aced in war no-one's won.

Hope's bedspread in shreds, bed of roses
Scope pined for before: shredded, done,
un-wedded from bliss hate-hiss poses
uncomfortable questions, would shun
trust's shine shrine unjust rust lines, lies hounded,
unprevailing as lies veil pale sun,
surrounded by life's leaves dis bound, fed
by woe where fair past fast flowed fun.

The Poetic Dance!

like a strife, he is in front of me
like a challenge, he always win off me
your words catching me like a punch
Me, poor of me! like a gentle kiss

Having in your double tongue the curse
he is the riper, brings the reaper to my heart
cold heart, ferocious, determinate
Took and shred my body, slashing my flesh

I was the clown, the war prize he lurking me
I gave the rhythm, the tune of the dance
he, the keeper of souls, the tower.
In a cage, tried to escape, he caught me

My words, without force
My intention running away
Dance of death to me
Dance of joy to him

Fragments Of Solid Stone

Assumptions understood,
Hampers an understanding one demands.
Clarity misted in foggy speech...
Makes less sense,
When passed from first
To second hand.

How to keep integrity protected,
When it is infected with flaws?
How can statements be respected...
When truth is kept behind shut jaws?

Not a shred of honesty seeps,
When one seeks to appease...
With a purpose to awe!

Assumptions understood,
Hampers an understanding one demands.
Clarity misted in foggy speech...
Makes less sense,
