Quotes about flag, page 75
Anzac
Within my heart I hear the cry
Of loves that suffer, souls that die,
And you may have no praise from me
For warfare's vast vulgarity;
Only the flag of love, unfurled
For peace above a weeping world,
I follow, though the fiery breath
Of murder shrivel me in death.
Yet here I stand and bow my head
To those whom other banners led,
Because within their hearts the clang
Of Freedom's summoning trumpets rang,
Because they welcomed grisly pain
And laughed at prudence, mocked at gain,
With noble hope and courage high,
And taught our manhood how to die.
Praise, praise and love be theirs who came
From that red hell of stench and flame,
Staggering, bloody, sick, but still
Strong with indomitable will,

A Seduction of Ada
It was his hand
as we sat side by side;
he waved it
as a flag
waves in a breeze.
The fingers arched
and flowed
up
down
and up again;
pausing at one time
then moving again.
I looked into his eyes
and his eyes slanted
to his hand
saying look again.

What's In A Name
WHAT'S IN A NAME
By the very feel of a baby inside the womb
People break their head in search of a name
Crossing the borders and nationalities even
They bring home a damn, in an idiotic craze
Like the race horses having very fascinating names
It is not sure, they win all the courses they run
Choosing a name that is big and different
Has nothing to do in the real life game
By naming my girl as ‘Marlin Munroe'
She cannot storm the hearts of men world over
By naming my boy as ‘Winston Churchill'
He cannot order a new world war either
Is production of a child, a magnificent thing?
Let him achieve greatness on all of his own
Once your flag is up, whatever be thy name

A Soldier's Poem
There is a time when sounds of war will ring
And songs of Liberty and Freedom we will sing. As the brave soldier stands at the point of fight,
he or she may fear for what is right. For the reasons of war; land, power, hunger or greed,
We know to maintain peace, I guess "War" is what we need So as the soldier stands at the eye of his enemy,
He shoots the enemy down and prays for his eternity. Only God knows who is right or who is wrong
but with God's strength our country shall stand strong And for the lives that suffered, we will mourn
Because of them our flag shall not be torn! Let us learn and remember the important of peace,
And pray to God for this War to cease! "Desert Storm 90-91"
A mission never to be forgotten"

The Peace Activists Grave
The one who loved peace she was buried today
And peace it surrounds her now where she does lay
But a bugler for her the last post did not play
No heroes for peace or it would seem that way.
Though in her honour there never will be a parade
To speak against war she was never afraid
And though patriots did not like what she had to say
For her views such a price she was prepared to pay.
She was a peace activist until her end
And to those who loved peace she was always a friend
Her motto was the one without sin cast the stone
And war was one thing she could never condone.
Though she was one who was quite honourable and brave
No National flag at the peace activists grave
She first saw light of day in nineteen thirty four
And may she now rest in peace forever more.

Ode for the Fourth of July
A glorious vision burst
On Europe's dazzled sight,
Upon that day when first
Columbia sprang to light; --
When our NEW WORLD, till then concealed,
In virgin beauty stood revealed.
But more sublime that day
When the young nation rose,
And cast her chains away,
And dared her tyrant foes:
Thrones quaked, and despots trembled then,
For bonds were rent and slaves were men.
The torch of Liberty,
Relighted on that day,
Streamed over land and sea
With brighter, holier ray.
Hail to our Country! hail to thee,
Auspicious day that saw her free!

Tribute to Gladstone
Lift up your heads; in life, in death,
God knoweth his head was high;
Quit we the coward's broken breath,
Who watched a strong man die.
If ye must say "No more his peer
Cometh: the flag is furled,"
Stand not too near him; lest we hear
That slander on the world
The good green earth he loved and trod
Is still, with many a scar,
Writ in the chronicles of God
A giant-bearing star.
He fell: but Britain's banner swings
Above his sunken crown;
Black Death shall have his toil of kings
Before the cross goes down.

No Military for Me
No military for me,
No tanks or guns,
Or army ranks -
To hell with it all -
No military for me,
No stupid generals
Deciding who lives
Or dies -
No young recruits
Blindly following
Orders to dropp
Bombs on children
No heroes, no trenches,
No waiting wives
Or crying mothers,
Nobody to fight for me

Beware The Pen
Raise your daggers raise your guns,
Rant and rave and burst your lungs
Chant on highest mountain top
Seal the roads make traffic stop
Shoot to kill as you think right
Blast with bombs in deep of night
Spread all rumours in your favour
Win each battle stop and savour
Preach to all converted lands
Shoot unless they show their hands
Send the soldiers brave and true
To do the dirty work for you
All things equal in your world
As long as it's your flag unfurled
Make your mark as you see wise
Grow your empire in the skies

American Heroes
she had one hand on her Bible,
the other at her throat.
they fired the volley,
folded the flag....
and buried her only son.
she didnt know about politics,
didnt know much about the war.
she only knew what she believed,
about right and wrong, , , ,
about her country, and salvation.
he'd been a good kid,
all boy, found trouble pretty easy.
but he listened to her,
and he believed what she believed....
he died fighting, scared, and unsure....
she had one hand on her Bible,
the other at her throat.
