Goodbye Max
I feared this day would come.
The reality of my feelings
Could only be felt by some.
I was afraid, walking through the door.
Daddy was there too, waiting for me;
An agonising pain sight was there for me to see.
There he laid, my best friend.
His ginger and white shredding apart,
Confirming by action his days were at an end.
I didn't want to lose him; I couldn't bear to let him go.
It saddens me to realise that Death cannot take a no.
But then her needle came, and his time was up.
Poor old Max. He was such a good pup.
While a tear rolled down my cheek,
A bright light of fetching games
Was what I'd hoped my dog would seek.
Daddy was sad. I was sad. All of the family sad.
There was no stopping the needle pumping the vein.

De Libris
True — there are books and books. There’s Gray,
For instance, and there’s Bacon;
There’s Longfellow, and Monstrelet,
And also Colton’s “ Lacon,”
With “Laws of Whist” and those • of Libel,
And Euclid, and the Mormon Bible.
And some are dear as friends, and some
We keep because we need’them;
And some we ward from worm and thumb,
And love too well to read them.
My own are poor, and mostly new,
But I’ve an Elzevir or two.
That as a gift is prized, the next
For trouble in the finding;
This Aldine for its early text,
That Plantin for the binding;
This sorry Herrick hides a flower,
The record of one perfect hour.

Breaking Up
breaking up is so very hard to do
especially when it's me and you
we have tried to keep our love alive
but! apparantly it has died.
love and respect go hand in hand
and that is something you don't understand
if respect you had given me
this love would have lasted eternally.
when we first got together
life seemed so much better
then with time you started to change
and with any problem-i was to blame.
i tried to give you the world
and into our life came a little girl
with this little girl i thought that things would get better
instead you became a control fanatic
and any little word it became static.

My Generation: The Good Ole Days
I remember a time when radio music was good.
I remember the twin towers and when they stood.
I remember television shows like Boy Meets World and Rocket Power,
sitting there while eating Warheads pretending they weren’t sour.
I remember white Christmases and full streets of lights,
I remember waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve nights.
I remember believing in a fat man with a white beard dressed in red
and every glass of milk and god damn cookie I fed.
I remember board games like Sorry, and Candy Land.
I remember playing in giant turtles; the ones filled with sand.
I remember when all it took was a Yo-Yo to feel fine,
even though I could never walk the dog, it was still a good time.
I remember the days we would all play capture the flag.
I remember the nights we dressed in black and played flashlight tag.
I remember Ghost In The Graveyard never lasted long,
there was always a bad-a** humming the tune of a creepy song.
I remember riding on a big yellow bus to a six hour day of school.
I remember when having Kooshes and Tomagotchi’s was cool.
I remember trading Pogs and Pokémon cards,
but could never get a holographic Charizard.

What you've done to me.
Time goes by too fast...
Remember when we used to play cops and robbers,
Acting like we were shooting Aliens,
Biking to the store,
Yeah those where the days.
But that was then..
Now everything has completely changed,
Becoming more distances,
Hanging out with your friends,
Doing stupid shit,
For a moment I stop and think.
I miss the old days when we were kids.
So innocent, no worries, or problems.
Now we barely even say two words to each other,
let alone hang out. The truth is I miss you..
I miss my big brother...my best friend. I miss the old you, and the car rides...
That lasted for hours. Driving around we had no destination. Only to get away from the house, just to be alone. Talking about everything from life, to personal experiences. All of our secrets came out to each other in those car rides. We were so open and free. I miss everything we used to be.
Now you're gone with HER...Forever, probably.
Just know I'll always be here for you when you come crawling back after she leaves you. You WERE my best friend and will always be my brother...
BUT, I do not forgive you nor will I ever forgive you for everything you have put me through.

Colleagues
We have been friends for many years
and working colleagues for most of them.
Today we're celebrating a friends promotion
and that happens every now and then.
We found ourselves sitting and talking together
about mutual friends and past events.
She was giving her opinion on a current situation,
and I agreed that she was making good sense.
She then leaned over and whispered quietly,
for the first time I noticed the texture of her skin.
I caught the aroma of her hair and perfume,
and something special was pulling me in.
I never once imagined us in this situation,
she paused as though she felt something too.
She pulled away and looked into my eyes,
and we didn't know what else we should do.

Linley From Dubbo
Though she is only forty four she looks much older
And gray through her shoulder length hair of brown
But twenty years ago she looked a beauty
One of the finest in Dubbo her Hometown.
She married young when she was only twenty
And she was pregnant on her wedding day
She loved her husband and to him was faithful
But her price for loving him too high to pay.
Her angry husband when drunk often beat her
But next morning he'd say I'm sorry dear
I promise you that this again won't happen
Perhaps I ought to give up on the beer.
But his promises to her were quickly broken
The leopard never seems to change his spots how true
He often came home from the pub aggressive
And he often beat poor Linley black and blue.

Another On The Same
Here lieth one who did most truly prove,
That he could never die while he could move,
So hung his destiny never to rot
While he might still jogg on, and keep his trot,
Made of sphear-metal, never to decay
Untill his revolution was at stay.
Time numbers motion, yet (without a crime
'Gainst old truth) motion number'd out his time:
And like an Engin mov'd with wheel and waight,
His principles being ceast, he ended strait.
Rest that gives all men life, gave him his death,
And too much breathing put him out of breath;
Nor were it contradiction to affirm
Too long vacation hastned on his term.
Meerly to drive the time away he sickn'd,
Fainted, and died, nor would with Ale be quickn'd;
Nay, quoth he, on his swooning bed out-stretch'd,
If I may not carry, sure Ile ne're be fetch'd,
But vow though the cross Doctors all stood hearers,
For one Carrier put down to make six bearers.

Last Night
Where were you last night? I watched at the gate;
I went down early, I stayed down late.
Were you snug at home, I should like to know,
Or were you in the coppice wheedling Kate?
She's a fine girl, with a fine clear skin;
Easy to woo, perhaps not hard to win.
Speak up like a man and tell me the truth:
I'm not one to grow downhearted and thin.
If you love her best speak up like a man;
It's not I will stand in the light of your plan:
Some girls might cry and scold you a bit,
And say they couldn't bear it; but I can.
Love was pleasant enough, and the days went fast;
Pleasant while it lasted, but it needn't last;
Awhile on the wax and awhile on the wane,
Now dropped away into the past.

The River of Me
I launched myself on the river me
Way back when I was two or three
I sailed out through the wall of snow
Beneath the bridge where all kids go
That Cheyenne Bodie was ten feet tall
His voice so deep it filled a hall
And that was who I dreamed I’d be
Until Cochise came on the scene
There was ice on the river and ice on the pond
And the singing nun sang on and on
There were trees on the river bank, cliffs by the sea
And fish galore in the river of me
The fields were full of cows, corn or wheat
The air was thick with bees and heat
The summer lasted all year long
I never knew til it was gone
